Needless to say, we’re thrilled. When we signed the Florida deal almost 18 months ago, it was by far the biggest in our 10-year-history, in one shot nearly doubling the number of planned locations in our system. In the next couple of years, Jack and his partners will develop more stores in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area before moving upstate to Orlando, Jacksonville and other high-volume locations, using a unique program to draw investors.
Consider this: Jack’s a successful owner of fast-casual franchise restaurants, having owned several highly profitable Five Guys Burgers & Fries locations in the Miami area — and he dropped those to join the VooDoo BBQ family. He’s bringing some great marketing ideas to the table, too.
On Saturday, the restaurant will host a fundraiser for Relay for Life Pembroke Pines, which benefits the American Cancer Society. For a $10 donation, guests will earn a chance to sample everything on the VooDoo menu while they support a great organization. “Relay For Life has a big presence here in Pembroke, and we want to establish strong ties to the community right from the start,” Jack says. We encourage that level of community involvement in all our franchise owners!
The next day, when the doors open at 11 a.m. in the popular Pembroke Lake Square retail and shopping center, the restaurant will offer another gift: A year’s worth of VooDoo BBQ. You read that right.
To the first 99 guests, restaurant staff will hand out vouchers for a weekly $10 credit at the store for an entire year. “We’re confident that people will be so impressed with VooDoo’s delicious Louisiana-Caribbean dishes and unique sides,” Jack says, “they’ll spread the news far and wide to their friends, relatives and co-workers.”
That’s confidence. Jack has reason to think he’ll do very, very well in Florida. Our food’s Caribbean accents will appeal to folks used to the Cuban and West Indian cuisine popular down there, and our lovingly smoked barbecue and unique side dishes will give Florida guests a taste of a cuisine they’ve never experienced before. We think this is truly the start of something great.
Care to join in? We’re looking for talented restaurateurs and businesspeople who love the idea of owning and running a fun fast-casual restaurant in a franchise system that’s on the rise, with 57 planned locations in six states and plenty more to come.
