First 99 customers on opening day will get FREE BBQ for a Year! PEMBROKE PINES, Fla.—January 3, 2013—VooDoo BBQ & Grill, the nation’s fastest-growing barbecue franchise, announced it is opening its first South Florida location, in Pembroke Pines, on Sunday, January 13. And to celebrate its arrival to the Sunshine State, VooDoo BBQ will be
giving away free barbecue for a year to the first 99 customers who show up on opening day. Doors open at 11 a.m., but Jack Flechner, president of the group that’s franchising the restaurant concept in Florida, said anyone interested in eating free for a year should line up much earlier. “There’s been a lot of interest in our food ever since we announced we would be opening here,” said Flechner. “We’re expecting a large crowd to show up on our first day to take advantage of this special promotion.”
VooDoo BBQ & Grill offers competitive-style barbecue prepared with a New Orleans flair. The menu features ribs, pulled pork, chicken and brisket, all hand-rubbed with authentic Cajun spices and slowly smoked to perfection. It also offers Big Easy favorites like Gumbo and PoBoy sandwiches, as well as salads, hamburgers and other specialty sandwiches. Also on the menu are hearty side dishes that include Gris Gris Greens, Rattlesnake Beans, Corn Pudding, Zapp’s Potato Chips and Sweet Potato Souffle.
The Pines restaurant is located at 151 N. Hiatus Road, in the Pembroke Lakes Square shopping plaza on the corner of Hiatus and Pines Boulevard. There’s seating for 60 guests indoors and 30 outdoors. In addition to the great food, the restaurant provides a fun, party-like atmosphere that gives diners a sense they are eating in New Orleans during the Mardi Gras celebration.
In addition to the free BBQ for the first 99 patrons, everyone who eats at VooDoo BBQ & Grill on opening day will be entered to win special prizes.
The night before opening day, on January 12, the restaurant will host a fundraiser for Relay for Life Pembroke Pines which benefits the American Cancer Society. For a $10 donation, guests will get a chance to sample everything on the VooDoo BBQ menu and help out a great cause at the same time. The time for the event is 5:30pm until 8:00pm and the public is invited.
New Orleans-based Voodoo BBQ & Grill has been recognized as one of the fastest growing fast casual restaurant franchises in the industry, with locations opening and under development in more than 56 cities and five states. The first location opened in New Orleans in 2002 on Mardi Gras day.
Last year, Weston-based BBQ Boyz, LLC of Weston, Fla., purchased rights to develop and operate up to 26 VooDoo BBQ & Grill locations in Florida, south of the Panhandle. Pembroke Pines is the group’s first restaurant to come on line, with others set to open later this year in Kendall, Fort Lauderdale and Delray Beach.
“We are looking forward to bringing a taste of New Orleans to South Florida,” said VooDoo BBQ co-founder and CEO Tony Avila. “We know from our research that Floridians love their barbecue and I’m convinced that once they taste our magic, they will be hooked like so many others have been.”
