October 16, 2012 07:30 ET BBQ Boyz Team Begins 26-Unit Project With Funding From Overseas Investors Through Job-Creation Program NEW ORLEANS, LA–(Marketwire – Oct 16, 2012) – Construction is underway at the first of 26 planned VooDoo BBQ & Grill locations in Florida. Already, the planned late November opening is creating plenty of buzz in

the Sunshine State. News articles in the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, South Florida Business Journal and The Palm Beach Post, among others, have shone a bright light on the franchise team, BBQ Boyz. Most of the conversation has centered on the team’s introduction of a unique and fast-rising culinary option to the lucrative south Florida market; and its use of a federal program that allows foreign investors to obtain U.S. visas by supporting businesses that create jobs for American workers.

“I’m just excited,” said Jack Flechner, BBQ Boyz’ lead partner. “We know we’ve got great food, and once people get in, they’ll love it. I just want it to get open.”

The new VooDoo will occupy a corner space in the popular Pembroke Lake Square retail and shopping center in Pembroke Pines, a suburb southeast of Fort Lauderdale. It’s just off a pair of well-traveled multi-lane roads (Hiatus Road and Pines Boulevard) and near a large hospital and several large subdivisions.

Flechner and his team intend to build their Florida empire over the next decade, starting in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area and gradually moving north; their territory encompasses all of the Sunshine State, population 19 million, except for the panhandle.

Flechner said BBQ Boyz wants to open four VooDoo locations in 2013: one in nearby Kendall and two in Fort Lauderdale. The partnership aims to open a second cluster of four in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area, then turn to Orlando and other cities upstate.
